Thriller is a genre that uses suspense, tension and excitement as the main elements. This is because this will make the audience want to watch more and find out the story behind the film as well as coming up with their own ideas of what it is that is going to happen.
A 'Sub-Genre' is where a genre such as thriller can be mixed with something else such as crime to create a crime drama. Examples of sub dramas to link with horror are; Conspiracy thriller such as 'Snake Eyes', crime thriller such as 'Ocean's 11', disaster thriller such as 'The Day After Tomorrow', erotic thriller such as 'Dressed to Kill', legal thriller such as 'The Runaway Jury', medial thriller such as 'The Experiment', mystery thriller such as 'Shutter Island', political thriller such as 'Seven Days In May', physcological thriller such as 'Orphan', rape and revenge films such as 'The Last House on The Left', religious thriller such as 'The Da Vinci Code', supernatural thriller such as 'Lady In The Water' and techno thriller such as 'Jurassic Park'.(Information found from www.wikipedia.com)
Most thriller films are mixed with one of the above.
Horror movies are set out to frighten, fear and disgust the viewer. Horror movies frequently overlap with the genre thriller.
Plots that are usually written for horror films usually involve some sort of evil force.
